UAE’s batting came a cropper for the second time in as many matches as they slid to a 51-run defeat to hosts Bangladesh in what was yet another low-scoring affair at Dhaka on Friday (26 Feb).

Mahmudullah’s all-round effort made him the highest impact player of the match. Scored at a brisk pace, his unbeaten 27-ball-36 contributed to nearly 27% of Bangladesh’s innings tally. Fifty runs were scored with him at the crease, commencing from the period he took guard, and that gave him Partnership Building Impact. Mahmudullah would go on to perform with the ball, picking up two wickets (including one top/middle order) in a tidy spell. He also had a catch to his credit and was rightfully adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.

Mohammad Mithun, meanwhile, was the highest impact batsman of the match. He scored 35% of Bangladesh’s runs, and contributed to his team’s promising start which gave him Partnership Building Impact.

UAE’s Mohammed Naveed took two top/middle order wickets in a highly restrictive spell (that included a maiden over) to emerge as the highest impact bowler of the match, pipping Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman – who had the second highest Economy Impact – in the process. He was also the highest impact player of his team, ahead of Muhammad Usman.

Eight players from Bangladesh registered an impact of at least one. UAE had seven such players and, not unlike yesterday, the combined efforts of their opponents made the difference.
