Note: In a career context, all numbers are restricted between 0 and 5. However, in a match context, the numbers are not restricted.
For simplicity, we are changing the scale here in the report and expressing every Match Impact number as a percentage. The maximum percentage (100) is assigned to the highest impact player of the match. All other players in the match are scaled relative to him. Negative Match Impact indicates that not only did the player not contribute in the match, but he also had an adverse effect on his team’s chances.

Scorecard

Playing at their new home in Raipur, Delhi Daredevils pulled off a tense, last-ball, six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday (20 May).

Karun Nair was the highest impact player, and batsman, of the match.

Nair arrived at the crease following the early dismissal of Quinton de Kock. Over the course of his unbeaten 59-ball-83, he absorbed pressure, built partnerships (thereby steadying the chase), and ensured victory by striking boundaries off the last two balls of the match. It was the highest impact performance of his burgeoning T20 career.

Interestingly, based on the performances of both teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a 10% higher impact than Delhi Daredevils in the match. Only four players from SRH failed, while DD had seven such players – shows the immense role Karun Nair played in his team’s win tonight.
