Note: In a career context, all numbers are restricted between 0 and 5. However, in a match context, the numbers are not restricted.
For simplicity, we are changing the scale here in the report and expressing every Match Impact number as a percentage. The maximum percentage (100) is assigned to the highest impact player of the match. All other players in the match are scaled relative to him. Negative Match Impact indicates that not only did the player not contribute in the match, but he also had an adverse effect on his team’s chances.

Scorecard

Delhi Daredevils overcame hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets on Thursday (12 May).

Quinton de Kock was the highest impact player tonight for his 31-ball-44 and tidy glove-work. Incidentally, it is his third ‘high impact’ performance in four innings against SRH. While all three have come in a chase, this was his first in a winning cause.

David Warner finished as the highest impact batsman of the match for scoring, marginally, a higher proportion of runs than de Kock.

Nathan Coulter-Nile, meanwhile, was the highest impact bowler for his two top/middle-order wickets in the evening’s second-most restrictive spell (2-25 off four overs).

SRH were let down by their batsmen who, barring Warner, had a negative Strike Rate Impact .

Based on the performances of both teams, Delhi Daredevils had a 71% higher impact than Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match. The domination reflects when we look at non-performances (i.e., failures): while DD had only two players who failed in the match, SRH had as many as five players.
