Note: In a career context, all numbers are restricted between 0 and 5. However, in a match context, the numbers are not restricted. For simplicity, we are changing the scale here in the report and expressing every Match Impact number as a percentage. The maximum percentage (100) is assigned to the highest impact player of the match. All other players in the match are scaled relative to him. Negative Match Impact indicates that not only did the player not contribute in the match, but he also had an adverse effect on his team’s chances.

Scorecard

South Africa beat New Zealand by six wickets in Auckland on Saturday (4 Mar) and clinched the One-Day International series 3-2.

Faf du Plessis (51 not out off 90 balls) edged David Miller (45 not out off 35 balls) to finish as the highest impact player – and batsman – of the match.

While Miller scored much faster, du Plessis scored a slightly higher proportion of runs and had to fend off pressure too.

Kagiso Rabada was the highest impact bowler of the match for his three top-middle order wickets in an economical spell (3 for 25 in 7.1 overs).

Colin de Grandhomme finished as New Zealand’s highest impact player for his effort with bat and ball (48-ball 32 under pressure and 1 for 16).

As many as five New Zealanders failed in Saturday’s decider. South Africa had three such players.
