India extended their undefeated record against Bangladesh in the shortest format of the game following the most incredible of wins. The hosts won Wednesday’s (23 Mar) thriller in Bangalore by one run, off the final ball of the match.

Ravindra Jadeja was the highest impact player of the match for his all-round effort. Every run counts in a low-scorer and while he contributed only 12 runs with the bat, he starred with the ball. Jadeja claimed two top/middle order wickets in a very tight spell, breaking a partnership in the process. He had the second-highest Economy Impact in the match, behind Ravichandran Ashwin. Also to his credit was a catch (to dismiss Mahmudullah).

Ashwin, as it turned out, pipped Jadeja to emerge as the highest impact bowler of the match. He also claimed two top/middle order wickets and had a slightly higher Economy Impact than Jadeja. Hardik Pandya, who bowled the final over, was India’s third-highest impact bowler.

Sabbir Rahman, meanwhile, was the highest impact batsman of the match. He had the third-highest score tonight, contributing to nearly 18% of Bangladesh’s reply at a very fast pace ( Strike Rate Impact ) and, more importantly, absorbed pressure. He had Partnership-Building Impact too.

Shakib Al Hasan was Bangladesh’s highest impact player. He claimed one top/middle order wicket, giving away few runs, and his innings with the bat had Partnership-Building Impact .

Based on the performance of both teams, India had an 18% higher impact than Bangladesh. As many as ten Bangladeshi players had a Match Impact of at least 1 (the minimum needed for a performance to not be deemed as a failure). India had nine such players – that’s how close the match was! The performances of Ashwin and Jadeja were the real differentiators in the end.
